What is ESN?

Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe, founded in 1989 for supporting and developing student exchange. Across Europe there are more than 500 sections in 40 different countries and the network is constantly developing and expanding.

ESN is working in Higher Education and it is offering services to 150.000 students and operates on three levels - local, national and international.

The Erasmus Student Network's common goal is to continously improve student exchanges and international education and to create a positive change in our society through international students. ESN works for the creation of a more mobile and flexible education environment by supporting and developing the student exchange from different levels, and providing an intercultural experience also to those students who cannot access a period abroad ("internationalization at home").

ESN Leeuwarden is a foundation, which means that we are a non-profit organization. ESN Leeuwarden organizes various activities throughout the year for exchange students and moreover supports both exchange and full-time international students during their stay and connects them.
